DIU NFE Career Expo 2018
2-Day DIU NFE Career Expo 2018 begins at the permanent campus of Daffodil International University today on July 12, 2018. Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu, MP inaugurated 2-Day DIU NFE Career Expo 2018 as the chief guest at Shadhinota Milonayoyton of the university at Datta Para, Ashulia, Savar , Dhaka. Mr. A F M Fokhrul Islam Munshi, President, Bangladesh Agro Processor’s Association (BAPA), Mr. Shah A Sarwar, Managing Director, IFIC Bank Bangladesh Ltd., Dr. Tahmeed Ahmed, Senior Director, Neutrition and Clinical Services, ICDDRB and Professor Dr. S M Mahabub -Ul- Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University were present as the special guests. Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of the university presided over the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Professor Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain, Head, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering. The program was conducted by Senior Lecturer Fouzia Akter and Adjunct Faculty Dr. Amir Ahmed of NFE Department.
Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE) of Daffodil International University in collaboration with Bangladesh Agro Processor’s Association (BAPA) organized this 2-Day DIU NFE Career Expo 2018 and Career Partner of the event is Skill.jobs. After the inauguration of the Career Expo, honorable Minister visited different stalls and projects of presented by the students. Later on he inaugurated the ‘Multi-Commodity Solar Tunnel Drier Plant (MCSTD) which has been set up in the permanent campus of DIU by CIRDAP with technical assistance from Philippine Center for Post-Harvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) with the objective to promote and encourage the production of quality dried agricultural and fisheries in Bangladesh.
Addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu said, at present around 25 lac business men are related with food product business and there are 246 high-quality medium size food production industries are in operation. These industries faces scarcity of high technological and skilled manpower where as our passing out graduates don’t get employment, because they are not sound in technical education as well as adequate technology besides academic knowledge. He urged the students to be well equipped with technical know-how besides academic learning. He also urged the educational institutions to take initiative to update the syllabus time befitting and producing graduates as per industry requirement and stressed on to come forward to strengthen bondage between industry –academia linkage.
Industry minister said, the innovation of ‘Multi-Commodity Solar Tunnel Drier Plant (MCSTD) is an appreciable initiative of NFE Department and will open a new era for our agricultural sector. Preserving Perishable agro based products will do good to the farmer, agro based entrepreneurs and policy makers. Through this initiative ensuring food safety, we will be able to go ahead to achieve the sustainable development goal, he added.
Over 40 industries are partaking in the event with stalls to display their products and services. The program will also witness participation from different Donor agencies, Government and non-government organizations. Students of DIU will get an opportunity of career consultation along with on spot interview facilities with the joining organizations.
