DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018
2 day DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018 ended today (Sunday) on February 4, 2018 at Dhanmondi campus of Daffodil International University. Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) jointly organized this 2 day-long DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018 from 3-4 February 2018.
Major General Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Director General, Drug Administration was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the DIU Pharma Career Expo 2018. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Chairman, Daffodil Family presided over the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was also addressed by Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ismail Mostafa, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Mr. Md. Mustafezur Rahman, Head, Department of Pharmacy of Daffodil International University.
2 day long DIU Pharma Career Expo included seminar, workshop, career talk show, Exhibition and project display. A total of 15 pharmaceutical industries are participating in this Career Expo. A series of seminar titled “Conquer Your Career: A Guide to Mastering Lifelong Success”, “Pharma Product Management in Bangladesh” and “Professional employability in Pharma –sector” were held where industry leaders shared their experiences and provided guide line for the new comers in this sector.
Addressing as chief guest Major General Mostafizur Rahman said that our pharmacy industry is expanding rapidly through out the world. At present we are exporting Bangladeshi drugs in 152 countries. We are trying to increase this number up to 200 and more. Beside this, Bangladesh is given consent into producing drug related devices. Which has a large market around the world? It’s not rational to skip this market. That is why University of Dhaka and so many institutes has started work to adapt this said market. Moreover Drug Administration is also doing some work regarding this sector.
Major General Mostafizur Rahman also said, pharmacy service will be expanded into remote areas of the country, as our pharmacy service is very unsteady in remote areas. There is no certified pharmacist in any pharmacy centre. So that people are not getting proper knowledge of using drug. Even in urban area we have not any pharmacist in the pharmacy centre. Drug Administration is working hard regarding this issue to mitigate the situation, he added
Mr. Mostafizur Rahman urged the students, to build career with adequate skill and knowledge as there are more than eight hundred pharmaceutical industry in our country waiting for you to give opportunity of employment
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said in his presidential speech that pharmaceuticals sector is the second largest tax payer sector of the country. This sector is rapidly growing. To develop this sector more, we need new innovation. He urged the students to innovate new idea about pharmacy. He also urged the faculty members to encourage students for generating ideas and innovation of medical science and pharmaceutical industries.
In the 2nd day of DIU Pharma Career Expo-2018 a seminar on "Pharma Product Management in Bangladesh" held today on February 04, 2018 at Auditorium-71 of Daffodil International University (DIU) where Mr. Ahmed Kamrul Alam, General Manager, Marketing, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, Mr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy Department, Incepta Pharmaceutical Ltd. and Ms. Saima Sultana, Senior Manager, Training, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited delivered their valuable speeches.
